Shannen Cooks: Chili Recipe

I got the chance to cook a Chili recipe back in the Philippines with the help of a Chef. I remembered it to be a difficult dish to cook so I didn’t bother making it again. Fast forward to now, I gave it another try with just 3 easy steps.

Chili Recipe

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

200 grams ground beef

4 cloves garlic

1 whole onion

2 whole tomatoes, chopped

1 green or red bell pepper (in this recipe I used green; this is also optional)

1 can of Red Kidney Beans Ready to Eat (drained)

4 tbsp of tomato sauce

2 tsp red chili crushed

1 tsp cumin

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt & Pepper (to taste)

How to cook:

Step 1: Sauté garlic and onion then add the ground beef. Cook until brown.

Step 2: Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, ready to eat Kidney Red Beans and bell pepper (optional). Let it simmer on medium heat, occasionally stirring it until all the ingredients are cooked.

Final Step: Add the red chili crushed, cumin, chili powder and garlic powder. Let it simmer for 5 minutes then season with salt and pepper. Adjust the taste to your liking then let it simmer again for another 5 minutes. Serve.

 

The key to this recipe is it’s spiciness. You can add more chili powder if you like it spicy. In my case, I like it mild hence I only put 1 tsp of chili powder. I also added bell pepper because I love it and I think it compliments all the spices in this specific dish. You may or may not add it.
