Final 7 Realizations

My 7 Realizations In Life This 2018

December 30, 2018

2018 is coming to a close and as I ponder upon the past 12 months, I have come up with realizations that I will bring with me as I enter the new year.

1. Know who to trust.

Remember your mom going crazy mad at you for talking to strangers when you were little? Well, she wasn’t just being too over protective. She was also teaching you to not trust everyone especially people you have just met. I realized that after countless times my poor judgment on people’s personalities has failed me.

2. It’s not an obligation to explain yourself to people who don’t want to listen.

I know, the urge to explain yourself countless times just to make a point is very much appealing especially to people you had misunderstandings with. But do yourself a favor and do it with people who actually are ready to listen. Explain your side once and that’s it. Why waste time on people who cannot be reasoned with?

3. Always be the better person.

This is the hardest thing to do especially if you are drowning in negative emotions. Trust me, I know. But over time, you’ll realize that not everything can be settled with anger and hurtful words. It actually makes everything worse. Sometimes, you just need to understand and be the better person. Which leads us to No. 4.

4. Listen to understand.

How can you understand if you do not want to listen? Every story has two sides which involve you and another party. Take a minute or two to ask and hear what he/she has to say. Do not allow other people cloud your judgment just because you think or feel they are on your side. Remember No. 1.

5. Always put yourself above everyone else.

Being selfless is okay but never forget that YOU also deserve to be happy. Spoil yourself and buy the things that you want, travel to places you have never been before, eat whatever you want, vent whenever you can. Life is short so enjoy it while you still can.

6. Cut ties with people who take you for granted.

A lot of times, we encounter people who only befriend us because they can get something out of us. Remember, these people can only take us for granted if we let them be. Just cut them off your life and you’ll be free from any negativity.

7. Never stop being YOU.

Countless times you have thought of changing who you are just because people say so. You listen to them aiming to please. This should not be the case. Always remember that being you should never be an issue to anyone. Because people who truly accept who you are will love you despite of your past, mistakes, decisions and flaws.
