June 21, 2018

When we were young, we wanted to be an adult so we have the freedom to do the things we want. We were so eager to age because in our mind, it is much easier to live. Little do we know, it is much more complex. I have gathered 10 simple signs that you are absolutely “Adulting”.

  1. You suddenly have the urge to get an insurance. – It was an idea you have shoved off for the past years but it hit you, why not? You think to yourself you’re getting old and you don’t want to leave your family empty handed. You also want stability by the time you retire so you grabbed your device and search for an agent to help you sort this one out. What a good way to start.
  2. The bills just keep piling up. – Oh no. Monthly house and car rent, phone bills and even your insurance payment. I guess what the elders said was right. The more you earn, the bigger the expenses. Yikes!
  3. Budgeting becomes a monthly, if not weekly, routine. – Budgeting has become your go-to way to handle your expenses because you do not want to call for help when things get rough, money-wise.
  4. Doing groceries is actually fun. – The thing you hate the most being a kid becomes a way to ease the stress off your shoulders. Your week suddenly feels incomplete without doing groceries because it is actually fun going isle to isle to check on the offers.
  5. Marking the dates for laundry and ironing clothes. – Allotting days to do laundry and ironing has completely been a normal thing. Because at the end of the day, you cannot go out the house wearing just underwear, right?
  6. Staying at home on off days has been a blessing in disguise. – After a stressful week at work, all you want to do is snuggle up in bed, catch up on your favorite Netflix series, sleep and eat the whole day.
  7. You prefer to spend your time alone. – ‘Cause having someone with you while you do your errands will take up extra time. You just want these things to be over and done with so you have more time to rest.
  8. You are being extra picky when it comes to friends. – One of the best part of being an adult. You get to choose and know who are your true friends. This time, you realize that you are entitled to your own choices so make it count.
  9. It’s now time to turn those trips you have been planning since you were a kid to reality. – One of the perks of being an adult is you get to travel without asking for your parent’s permission. But of course, at your own expense. So you spend and save wisely to turn these trips to reality.
  10. You realize that being an adult is actually crazy awesome. – Learning how to be responsible, paying your own bills, living life the way you want it, how amazing that can be?
